Engineer for data structures

As a Data Engineer you are responsible for the extraction, loading and transformation of data. You transform semi-structured data sets into a uniform structure and make it accessible to different teams for a wide range of use cases via a dedicated platform.

Your responsibilities are: 

  • Designing, developing, optimising, and maintaining squad-specific data architecture and pipelines that adhere to defined ETL and data lake principles and business goals
  • Preparing, coordinating and organising the transfer of data architecture and pipeline artefacts to the platform team for cross-squad use
  • Resolving technical data problems, the remediation of which helps our company to achieve its goals
  • Helping to build data products for data analytics scientists and machine learning engineers as part of an agile team to improve their productivity
  • Advising and mentoring data and analytics experts on data standards and practices within your squad
  • Collaborating on the evaluation of new tools for analytical data engineering or data science
  • Proposing and contributing to education and improvement plans on analytic data engineering capabilities, standards, and processes
  • Continuing your education in machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics or applied mathematics

Ideally, you match the following profile: 

  • Background in computer science
  • Experience in data engineering and with solutions for cloud computing services for data and analytics
  • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis as well as experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Scala)
  • Experience in database development and data modelling, ideally using Databricks/Spark and SQL Server DB, as well as knowledge of relational, NoSQL and cloud database technologies
  • Experience in working with Microsoft Azure tools, like Data Factory, Event Hub, Databricks, ML, Synapse and Purview
  • Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, e.g. dimensional modelling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data
  • Experience in working with Unix operating systems, especially shell scripting
  • Proven experience in machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics or applied mathematics
  • Excellent communication skills and business fluency in English; knowledge of German is a plus
