Ola is a Test Manager in the Transportation Platform team at ALDI SÜD. In this interview, he tells us about his daily work and reveals the importance of communication in the testing process when it comes to successfully creating customer-centred solutions.

Ievgenii was born and raised in the Ukraine. He came to Germany after the Russian invasion and has now been with ALDI SÜD for two years, working as a Security Architect. With the ALDI SÜD design system, the Customer Interaction department has created an indispensable tool for the design, development and maintenance of our digital products. It provides basic design principles and reusable design components that ensure a consistent look and feel across all digital touchpoints for our customers. We have now been honoured with the prestigious Red Dot Award 2023 in the Interface & User Experience Design category. 

Stefanie works as an IT Consultant in the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) team. EDI makes it easy to transmit warehouse purchase orders to suppliers electronically, for example. In this interview, she talks about her everyday work life and explains why she chose ALDI SÜD as her employer seven years ago.

Pierre began his career at ALDI SOUTH IT as a working student in 2014. Now, in his role as IT Manager, he leads the team responsible for the POS systems in the eleven ALDI SÜD countries. For this purpose, we launched our live stream series “aldi.deepdive(live)”, where we embedded interactive live streams in our job advertisements during a campaign week at the beginning of August. It was a great success!

With our new software-as-a-service application, Global Facilities Management (GFM), we’ve created a solution at ALDI SOUTH IT that lightens the load for all of the employees in our stores: GFM enables us to digitally process more than 1.6 million maintenance requests per year, plan maintenance tasks for around one million technical systems and reduce costly equipment failures.

Roland has been working as a Product Owner in our team for 1.5 years. What he enjoys most is working on a product he can relate to. In our interview, he said: “In the grand scheme of things, I am ultimately selling fruit and vegetables online, and I think that’s great.”

Alexander is a Senior IT Consultant responsible for DevOps tasks. To provide customers with a reliable shopping experience, he brings together Development (Dev) and Operations (Ops). 

Digital transformation also presents new challenges in the area of Human Resources. Job application processes, for example, are much different today compared to previously and are becoming more efficient. Processes are also being enhanced in other areas of HR.

Customer-oriented online platforms are increasingly becoming a differentiating competitive factor in the retail industry – also for ALDI SÜD. In order to ensure optimised support of the area of e-commerce in the future, we have decided to use the software solution SAP Commerce.
