Shop around the clock: ALDI DX ensures a smooth online shopping experience
Alexander is a Senior IT Consultant responsible for DevOps tasks. To provide customers with a reliable shopping experience, he brings together Development (Dev) and Operations (Ops).
At ALDI DX, Alexander deals with exciting and challenging web topics within an international environment. These tasks, along with his committed team of colleagues, are some of the reasons he enjoys working at ALDI DX.
Alexander discovered ALDI DX as an employer by chance when he came across an online job advertisement. “It’s an exciting environment that you don’t necessarily associate with IT,” he says. Seeing as his heart beats for the web, e-commerce and technology, it seemed like the perfect job for him and he applied. The application process was quick and uncomplicated. Extensive induction training provided by helpful and friendly colleagues soon gave him the feeling that he knew the business well and was a firm part of ALDI DX.
Automation and agility as a challenge
Alexander describes the requirements and tasks in his job as very complex: He provides advice within the DevOps environment, manages the operation of DevOps tools and pipelines, and supports colleagues in technical matters. Under the motto of “automate everything” he wants to increase the degree of automation and quality of applications across the business group as a whole. It is also important to him to spread the DevOps mindset. Everything should work together and not just be considered as individual areas (development and operation).
The most important aspect of his current project is to provide customers with a unique shopping experience on the IT side as well, to guarantee that they can shop online 24/7 and to enable interaction with ALDI SÜD at any time. Alexander is working on an international rollout and the operation of a web/e-commerce stack.
He sees the greatest challenge in digital transformation: Alexander and his team have the task of supporting agile software development and promoting agility in general. “This change process is not easy,” Alexander explains. He sees it as a challenge to optimise existing structures and processes.
Flexibility and international communication
Besides personal dialogue, Alexander also uses Microsoft Teams to communicate and interact with his colleagues. “As a result, communication – especially on an international level – has become much easier,” he says. This is an important aspect, as the teams at ALDI DX often comprise a mix of international members.
Alexander himself lives only 30 kilometres away from his workplace. “Unfortunately without good public transport connections,” Alexander regrets. However, due to the coronavirus crisis, it has already become part of the norm to work not only in the office but also at other locations. In the region around Mülheim a.d. Ruhr, Alexander appreciates the many leisure activities that unite country and city life.
For Alexander, ALDI DX is a secure, renowned employer with a high level of recognition and an international presence.
